Meet Sabi: the AI assistant for family-first founders

This week we launched Sabi, an AI assistant for family-first founders. I have been partnering with one good friends, Stephen Diaz the last few months but this week we onboarded our 100th user.

If you want to test it out, just Sabi directly 650-505-2660.

Why we built an another AI assistant

Most AI tools are built to help you hustle harder. Do more, ship more, squeeze more into the day.

Stephen and I wanted the opposite. We're both business owners who care about building calm business while still being present family. We built Sabi for founders like us: a simple, calm assistant that helps you focus on less, do it better, and protect real time with your spouse and kids.

If you've seen tools like Poke or Ollie, Sabi is very similar. The main difference is who it's for: family-first business owners.

How does it work? Just text her

Sabi lives on your phone in iMessage. There's no new app, no dashboard to learn. You simply text 650-505-2660 and start a conversation like you would with a friend.

You can even send voice memos and talk to Sabi like you'd talk to an assistant in the room, and she transcribes it and gets to work.

She also connects to hundreds of tools, including Gmail, Notion, Slack, and your calendar, so she can take real tasks off your plate.

Task management built in

Ask Sabi something like, "every morning at 10am, send me a summary of my inbox" or "every Monday, brief me on my week," and she'll run it on schedule.

You can even view all tasks in a kanban-style board in the dashboard if you prefer.

You don’t need to learn AI. AI should learn you.

This is the vision behind Sabi, and my favorite part of what we built.

Every conversation builds her memory. Sabi will learn about your business, your clients, and how you like things done. You can even send documents, images, and notes and she files them into her library.

My favorite feature is Night Shift. Every night, Sabi goes through the apps you've connected and does homework on your behalf. Connect Zoom and Sabi will read your call transcripts and save the important moments as memories. Important emails get organized. She can research your contacts and clients and keep notes on them for you.

The tech behind Sabi (not a ChatGPT wrapper)

Sabi is a full custom agentic platform, not a thin layer over a chat model. I built it almost exclusively with Devin.

Here's the stack:

  • Claude powers the reasoning. It's the model doing the thinking behind every conversation.
  • OpenAI handles voice. It transcribes your iMessage voice memos so Sabi can act on them.
  • Our own database for memory. Sabi isn't relying on a chat context window that forgets what you told it 2 weeks ago. Memories are stored forever, alongside a library of every document, image, and resource you send her.
  • Hundreds of tool connections. Gmail, Notion, Slack, Zoom, your calendar, and more, all working from one text thread.
  • Lots of testing and iteration. This is the moat behind all AI tools is that it requires extensive testing and tweaking
